AGRO-WELL Participates in EU Policy Workshop on Reducing Farm Machinery Accidents with New Technologies

Agriculture remains one of the most hazardous sectors in Europe, with accidents involving tractors and farm machinery representing a major cause of injuries and fatalities among agricultural workers. As farming becomes increasingly mechanised, improving occupational safety is a growing priority for policymakers, researchers, and technology developers. Innovative solutions, ranging from smart sensors to automated machinery, are now emerging as powerful tools that can help prevent accidents and create safer working environments in agriculture.

The AGRO-WELL Horizon Europe project will participate in the policy workshop “Reducing Farm Vehicle and Machinery-Related Accidents in Agriculture with New Technologies.” The online event is organised by the SafeHabitus project in collaboration with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and will take place on 19 March 2026 (14:30–17:00 CET).

The workshop will bring together policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, and agricultural stakeholders to explore how emerging technologies can contribute to safer farming practices. Participants will discuss practical examples of technological innovations that improve visibility, detect hazards, monitor machinery performance, and support safer operation of agricultural vehicles.

In addition to presenting technological solutions, the event will provide a platform for dialogue on how research, innovation, and policy initiatives can support the wider adoption of these tools across Europe. A policy round-table discussion will focus on identifying strategies that can help reduce accidents and improve working conditions in the agricultural sector.

The AGRO-WELL project aims to enhance occupational safety and health in agriculture by promoting innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange between researchers, industry, and farmers. By engaging in discussions such as this policy workshop, the project contributes to advancing safer and more sustainable agricultural systems across Europe.
